I had steamboat couple of days ago but only free to blog bout it till today. This has been the usual place for me whenever I have cravings for steamboat. They have plenty of varieties for soup - normal clear soup (Cheng Tong), herbal soup (Yeok Choy Tong), seaweed soup, porridge soup and tom yam - not sure if they have any others. That’s all I can think of but the best that I’ve tried so far is the herbal soup. I don’t really like their tom yam. Kinda bland, not sour and spicy enough. So I will usually opt for one type of soup only which is the herbal soup.

As for the varieties, it just like the usual steamboat style whereby they have different type of fishballs, meatballs, foo chuk, chicken meat, slice fish, prawns, veges and etc. Too bad, they don’t serve beef. So we gotta bring our own but can only add them in when nobody is watching us. Not too nice if the taukeh see us bringing our own stuff.

P/S: Their fried chicken wings are good. Taste better than KFC. Must try!

Suddenly had a crave for steaks last Saturday so we ended up at The Ship, Jln Sultain Ismail branch. Ordered Indonesia Oxtail Soup, Crabmeat Sharkfin Soup, Escargots, T-Bone Steaks and Garlic Steaks. Gosh, our tummy almost exploded. However, we only managed to take pictures of the maincourse. Why? Coz I was too hungry till I forgot to snap pics when the soups and escargots were served. My bad!

A friend of mine just sms me earlier on at around 6 p.m. She told me to pump petrol to my car as the price will hike up till RM2.70 per litre by midnite. I did not take it seriously. Not till when I passed by the petrol kiosk. One after another, jam packed like sardine. All the cars queuing up causing the massive jam on the road. Gosh, only then I realize how bad it was.

Why is the government doing this to us? Where has all the subsidy gone to? I thought we have our own petrol? What’s the point of having Petronas in that case? I would rather they have not spent so much just to send rubbish to the space and instead use it to subsidize us.

I guess most probably the rest of the things will have a price increase as well due to this impact. It will be a good excuse for everyone to increase their pricing. “Petrol sudah naik. Semua barang pun sudah mahal”. It will be a frequent phrase everywhere. Sigh!

Restaurant: Angus Steakhouse
Address: Lot 6.44 & 6.45, Pavillion Kuala Lumpur, Jalan Bukit Bintang, 55100 K.Lumpur.
Telephone: 03-2145 6015

Today’s lunch can consider kinda luxurious, not because of the things I ate but the venue. Gosh, when I was standing out there looking at the menu, my first thought was “Guess I’m gonna walk out of here with part of my heart sliced. Gotta have bread for the rest of the week”. Lolz. Nah, not because I’m stingy but I’m kinda broke this month, though it’s just beginning of the month.

Hmm…back to the food that I had today. I regretted to have ordered my cabonara. The taste was just average only. A bit bland to me. The spaghetti was a bit hard. As if like not cooked enough. Should have opted for the steak instead. I managed to try a piece of it as my boss was kind enough to offer. Not bad. It was juicy and tender, nicely marinated. Delicious! To be frank, I did crave for more but shy lar to ask for another one.

Oh ya, almost forgotten about the soup. I personally do not really like carrot soup. So, my first impression of seeing the soup was - YUCK! However, when I tried it, to my surprise, the soup tasted good. Thick and smooth. Not as bad as I thought. I finished the whole bowl of it. It was not awesome but much nicer than those I’ve tried before.

Restaurant: Saisaki Japanese Buffet
Address: Wisma UOA II, Unit No. 1-9, 1st Floor, No.21, Jalan Pinang, 50450 Kuala Lumpur.
Telephone: 03-2166 3728 (Booking recommended else you’ll end up queuing)
Business Hour: Lunch 12.00 p.m. till 2.30 pm. | Dinner 6.30 p.m. till 10.30 p.m.
Price: RM39++ (Lunch) | RM45++ (Dinner)

As I suddenly had a crave for Japanese food throughout the week, I decided to try Saisaki buffet who has been here for ages but I never had a chance to check it out. So I finally did yesterday.

At first I was pretty excited to see the crowd queuing at the entrance thinking that the food must be great by looking at the long queue. However, it proved me wrong. In fact, I was a bit disappointed by the quality of the sushi. The rice seems a bit soggy and wet. Oh ya, I think the worse dish I’ve tried would be the baked oyster with cheese. OMG, it was the first time ever that I would never opt for another one after trying the first. The taste was so weird. Dunno how to describe it. It just taste awful. As for deserts, again it was just average only. The green tea ice-cream melted too easily. Taste also not up to the standard but not too bad lar. Edible.

Hmm…if you were to ask me what is good there. I guess I’ll recommend the teppanyaki area - the fried meat and veges. The grill scallop and escargots also not too bad. Oh, if you like cooked salmon, perhaps you should try the salmon burger. Something which is unusual. Besides, there were also peking duck roll mixed with ebiko and some other ingredients. Remember to dip it with the special black sauce.

Not to say that the food there was extremely bad, but it was just so-so only. Nothing else great for me to praise. If I were to rate the food, I would give a 5 out of 10 only. No doubt, the varieties of food were great. More than 20 over dishes for you to choose but the overall taste of the food were just average only and a bit too salty for me (FYI, when I described salty, by all means it can be very salty to most of you already as my level of saltiness is kinda great as I can say.) And also, I drink plenty of water after the meal. Too much Aji, I guess.

Will I go there again? Well, it depends. With the same budget that I have perhaps I would wanna try something better. Or at least I would go to a proper Japanese restaurant and opt for a bento which would also keep me full of satisfaction. Not necessarily a buffet that offers average food only.

Guess most people has overrated Saisaki or maybe I put too much expectation on the food there.

P/S: They don’t allowed you to take the picture of their food. I curi-curi snap
